My main reason for tripping up Berlin was this very special occasion. My sweet friend Philip turned 50 on July 13th and his husband Michael organized this AB FAB surprise birthday party 😀
Philips Circus Halli Galli opened up it’s doors as early as three pm. For people my age it turned out to be the perfect time to start a party; by midnight everybody had gone 😀
Since I have forgotten the names of most of the wonderful people I met, this blog post will be a cavalcade of photos.
The last frenzy of preparations before Philips arrival…
The girls are doing a final touch up.
Cakes and pastries designed for a king 🙂
And the spring rolls were to die for!
Then we waited…
…for a very surprised Philip!
But us girls with high heals were somewhat more apprehensive.
Happy-go-lucky-guy felt like he was back in Bali and spent most of his time digging his toes into the sand.
Emma Pe is a beautiful and talented German writer. We got on like a house on fire and she was by far the most glamorous guest.
The positive and negative voodoo doll…
A lovely girl who did manicures. Carlos is going all in.
A cotton candy machine…
…which American photographer Devon handled with great skill and care. That’s one dangerous apparatus!!! :-O
Devon was also the appointed photographer of the day. I was just a snapp-happy guest.
A famous painter who drew our portraits:
It could look like this.
And that’s me. Something (probably the only thing apart from the jell-O shots) I didn’t snap a pic of was the fabulous masseur who gave everybody who felt like it a wonderful wonderful massage. I swooned for hours afterwards.
A lone sax player smooched around, followed by a little boy who seemed mesmerized by the music.
Nice people, I wish I could remember their names.
But I do remember this guy as a great dancer. Fantastic in fact!!!! We were really in tune and could probably do ”dancing with the stars” with a bit of practice.
Melons were the name of the game. Philip and Michael were both in awe of the pretty ”fruit salad” which was, in fact, bloody delicious.
Not only that; they bloody LOVE each other.
Ooooh, it was a brilliant party. I am so happy I decided to go.
Of course there was the obligatory Photo Booth. As people started getting tipsy this went completely off the top. I laughed so hard – it was a HOOT!
And Håkan & Carlos were by far the funniest.
Michaels lovely parents worked really hard to make everybody feel welcome and happy.
View from the balcony.
Mother and daughter plus boyfriend.
More happy guests, me included. Naturally the bathroom was a haven for us who likes exclusive hair products. Philip B is amongst the very top (sponsored this years season of Project Runway no less!) and everything was on display here.
At ten pm most people had left, but the few of us still there sat down to watch the football finals where Germany ended up becoming to new world champions. For Argentina it was Guten Nacht! Berlin erupted in a blitz of craziness as I waddled across the street to my hotel.
Next up: a sweltering hot Sweden. Ciao!
